Who We Are... What We Do...

TheatreWorks is a part-time performing arts school and is part of the Vivace Music Group Established in 1997.

We aim to provide high standard professional tuition of Music & Drama which is taught by fully qualified experienced Music & Drama teachers.

The TheatreWorks concept was originally conceived in 2004 and during development has been inspired by the expertise and precision of music tuition within Vivace Music School the performance and stage skills of Vivace Singing Group and now with the newest addition of a qualified drama professional the ability to provide high quality professional music & drama tuition has led to the newest part of the Vivace Music Group 'TheatreWorks'. Our most ambitious venture yet has been developed with the 'serious performer' in mind by that we mean people who are strongly committed to the performing arts and would like to pursue a career within this vocation. The Part Time Sessions will become the main stage for pupils to learn and experience performing arts, as well as producing shows we will be encouraging students to undertake optional LAMDA Examinations to provide a formal mark of your achievements. We are also developing strong links with casting agencies for Theatre, Television, Cinema and Live Performance. This year marks our 10th anniversary and the addition of our own casting agency

Leeds TheatreWorks

TheatreWorks Leeds is currently based in Oulton, South Leeds. We are conveniently located halfway between Leeds and Wakefield and are in easy reach of Rothwell, Woodlesford, Garforth, Methley, Swillington, Kippax and Outwood.

York TheatreWorks

TheatreWorks York is currently based in Upper Poppleton, North West of York. We are conveniently located on the York to Harrogate Road (A59) and are in easy reach of Poppleton (Upper & Nether), Acomb, Green Hammerton, Haxby, Wigginton, Rufforth, Copmanthorpe, Rawcliffe, Clifton and Tadcaster.

Our History

TheatreWorks History

TheatreWorks is a new concept originally conceived in 2004. It is a mix of expert music tuition from Vivace Music School and the performance skills and experience from Vivace Singing Group with the addition of a professional drama teacher this enables us to provide this new exciting performing-arts school for 2006.

The History that led up to TheatreWorks is below in the Vivace Music History section.

Vivace Music History

Vivace Music was established in 1997 as a private Music School originally teaching Piano, Singing and Clarinet lessons in 1998 the concept of a modern performing choir 'Staccato' heralded the beginning of a very successful performing group which in the following years enjoyed winning numerous music competitions including the prestigious Harrogate Music Festival performing on local Television & Radio, BBC Music Live as well as producing its own shows and live performances in various locations throughout Yorkshire. Staccato continued to perform for charity events and shows until 2001.

The group was to be reformed in 2003 as Vivace Singing Group set up to include a low cost professional group tuition for children, teenagers, and adults. The groups main aims are to provide an outlet for performing and showcasing the abilities of pupils as well as raising money for charity.

The year of 2003 marked the return of Vivace Music School & Vivace Singing Group to Oulton, South Leeds

The Music School has gone from strength to strength now offering vocal, piano, clarinet, saxophone and theoretical coaching on a private one to one basis, as well as the opportunity to perform in shows and concerts and local Music Festivals and competitions. All genre of music is offered from jazz, pop, r & b to classical, and of course a speciality music theatre! The pupils have reaped the rewards of performance and examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. All pupils are classical trained and this then enables them to be able to diversify into different areas of music and performance.

The new look Vivace Music Group which incorporates the Music School and Singing Group enjoyed its first large show in 2005 which was produced by Vivace Music Productions. Vivace Music Productions is made up of volunteers mainly parents and family of Vivace Music's pupils which help with costumes, props, make-up, tickets, advertising and various other tasks.

Our Future

What does the future have install for us?

We are currently setting up a new TheatreWorks school in York which will join with Leeds once a year to perform a large annual show which will be large enough to fill either Leeds Grand Opera House or York Theatre Royal.

As well as improving our links within our casting agency we are constantly looking for new auditions and career links we are considering an online portfolio for our students interested in applying for performing arts roles.

Plans for a full time Performing Arts School which will integrate Vivace Music School and TheatreWorks. The full time school would have it's own building and small theatre along with dance studios. We are in the preliminary stages of planning and would like to create an outstanding Full Time Performing Arts School for Yorkshire and the north.
