Welcome to our home on the internet, TheatreWorks is based in Leeds and York. We specialise in the tuition of music, drama and performance. This website is broken down into three sections:-

TheatreWorks Performing Arts School Drama and Music Specialists

Introduction

Welcome to our site, TheatreWorks is in essence a performing arts school. We specialise in the tuition of music and drama, which is taught by fully qualified and experienced teachers. The school is split into three sections:-

Part Time Sessions which run at weekends or after school during the school year. There is a small entrance audition to determine your starting level should you choose to take any optional exams with LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts). These sessions offer advanced tuition and skills and are split into two age groups 6-11s and over 11s-18s. The sessions are three hours in length and are split into a class of music and a class of drama each age group then alternate between the two. Occasionally there are alternative specialist classes varying from dance to stage effects and film media. At the end of each term we have a production which is open to all family and friends to watch. Once a year we have a large production at a theatre in full costume which can often mean extended sessions to five or six hours (including breaks).

Holiday Workshops which run during most school holidays excluding Christmas. Our Workshops are open to everyone aged between 6 and 18 and there is no audition required. Workshops run for five days (usually Monday to Friday) and are generally 6 hours per day which can vary from (9am-3pm to 10am-4pm). In the weeks workshop we select well known musicals and films and perform alternative versions and extracts from them, information on our workshops and the chosen theme is published on our website a month before the school holiday. At the end of the week there is a small production where family and friends are welcome to attend.

Our Casting Agency is a new addition to the school. As there is an increased number of new talent searches and a broadening requirement for dramatic and musical artists we have started to build an association with various open cast auditions and theatre auditions. This year we hope to build links with local Television company Yorkshire TV perhaps leading to roles in Emmerdale filmed in Leeds. We are also contacting other production companies BBC North and Granada Studios Manchester (famous for Coronation Street and other leading drama productions.) As we continue building links we hope to build good connections within casting for TV, Theatre and even Film, as well as Advertising and Radio.

Mission Statement

Our Mission Statement, to provide high quality tuition of music, drama and performance. These skills will be taught to an examination standard with an option to take a formal exam. The skills gained will be both an advantage to everyday life and a career within the performing arts.

Our Aims

We aim to improve self confidence and performance skills whilst making the experience enjoyable and fun.

We aim to build team building skills and encourage everybody to interact with each other to create an exciting varied cast.

We aim to prepare our students for a career within the performing arts or as a head start to Degree and Masters Courses.

We aim to showcase all new skills that students have learned for family and friends to see their development.

Wherever possible we aim to promote (when requested) any of our students to appropriate auditions and or jobs.
